The Story of Mt. Mayon

Mt. Mayon is an active volcano, its located in the province of Albay in the Bicol region on the island of Luzon here in the Philippines. so here it is:

A long time ago, Albay was a kingdom. The rajah of albay had a beautiful daughter who the people called "daragang magayon" meaning "beautiful maiden".
The talk of Magayon's beauty spread to neighboring kingdoms where many datus and princes tried to seek her hand in marriage.
While the rajah was away, a fierce datu came, Datu Buhawen.
He wanted to marry Magayon and threatened to kill her father if she refused. However, she tried to delay the marriage so Gat Malayo, her sweetheart would be back by that time.
Gat Malayo returned just as the marriage ceremony was about to begin. Datu Buhawen called for his men and a fierce battle began.
Buhawen was stronger but Gat Malayo was more skillful. Buhawen was killed.
Unfortunately a friend of Buhawen shot Gat Malayo with an arrow. As Gat Malayo fell, Magayon rushed to his side, and seeing he was dead, she killed herself with a dagger. The two were burried side by side in a common grave. The following day, the earth on the grave began to rise.  It turned into a beautiful mountain-volcano. It had an almost perfect cone. Im memory of Daragang Magayon, the mountain was named Mt. Mayon.
At the foot of the mountain the people built a town and called it Daraga, meaning, a damsel, to commemorate further the memory of beautiful maiden.

Monday Mayhem: Shopping tips

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, we want to hear your shopping tips for the situations below.
Have fun!
So here is my tips:

1. You mention to your neighbor, with the body odor, that you are heading out to the mall in the morning. Neighbor asks to go with. What do you say?

I'm a pretty blunt  so I would make mention of the fact that "dude, you stink, hit the showers if you're going in my car."

2. You go up and down every aisle in the parking lot until you finally scope out that perfect place. You patiently pull over to the side and put your signal on to wait for the person pulls out. Someone snags your spot before you can pull in. What do you do?

Happens sometimes, best just to move on to another spot.

3. You find that perfect sweater for grandpa and it's the last one in that size. Some lady with three screaming kids approaches you and asks for the sweater for her husband who is deployed in Iraq. What do you do?

Hard to answer, would depend on how sincere the person was in their plea... ie are they telling the truth. Quite a few people wo lie about husbands deployed overseas just to get sympathy.

4. You found the perfect gift for your best friend and you notice that there are no less than 100 people in line in front of you.  Unfortunately, you just drank 3 cups of coffee before you entered the store. What do you do?
100 people? Seriously? Where did you have to go shop, Soviet Russia? I've never had 100 people in line in front of me for anything so sorry I can't relate.

5. You're within 10 people of the checkout after waiting in line for 40 minutes and the person in front of you lets three people in line- he was just saving the spot. What do you do?

Gosh you grin and bear it, creating a scene for stupid things is just not worth the time. Sure I'm fuming inside, but there's nothing to be done about it.

6. You get to the check out and your card is declined. What do you do?

We have a miracle thing now called computers and the internet, lets you check your balance before you leave the house so I never have the embarassment of a declined card.

7. Oops...you forgot to buy something for Aunt Edna. Do you regift the fruit cake George from next door gave you?

Depends on the fruitcake and if Aunt Edna really means anything to me. I have a particular "aunt" in mind when I say yes I would regift, bonus points if the fruitcake is moldy or harder than Obama's head.

8. Are you planning on doing most of your shopping in the stores or online this year?
Stores, I'm unemployed so it's just small simple gifts this year for those closest to me. lol

7. You’ve been doing medical research for decades and have finally found a cure. What was it that you found a cure for and why did you choose this particular ailment?

Black Friday

Anyone who has lived in the USA knows about Black Friday and if you have worked in retail here the mere mention of this day of shopping madness is enough to bring on fainting spells, uncomprehensible gibberish and a strong desire to run for the hills. For those of you who don't know, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. It's the official start of the Christmas shopping season and is maked with madness sales on cheaply priced items. I worked retail for many years and was a veteran of 6 Black Fridays, 4 of them spent whilst working at Wal~Mart. From the time the doors open at 6am it is complete and utter craziness often times marked with acts of violence as shoppers scramble for the items on sale. The day itself gets it's name from a Macy's executive who commented that that particular day was the first time in Macy's' first year of operation that they operated "in the black" i.e. made a profit. For as long as I have been alive however, it has been a day where Americans scramble to worship at the altar of consumerism in preparation for Christmas. Yes, I'm cynical. Although my wife would differ on this point, I really don't need alot of "things" to make me happy. You may talk about the latest 64" Plasma TV but it's barely interesting to ellicit a yawn from me.

So what is important? Sunday marks the beginning of Advent, the true start of the christmas season and it is important for us as christians to remember what Christmas is truly about. If you are doing well in your life and your job thank God for it and remember to help those who are not so fortunate, it's what Jesus would have done.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is an American holiday worshipping the god of Gluttony, fitting since the day after Thanksgiving is a holiday in homage to the god of Consumerism... or greed, especially corporate greed. I must digress though, I'm supposed to writing about happy things, right? On this day of Thanksgiving what do I have to be thankful for, I'm alive... my wife is alive...ummm... hmmm... wait I'm thinking... oh never mind. Sorry, like many Americans I'm out of work, been laid off since August and haven't been able to find a job locally since then despite literally hundreds of applications. My wife and I are separated by 8,000 miles and 8 months of time and I don't know when we will see one another again. It's trying on a relationship this whole distance thing... and inpecunity. My wife knows I love her and I am secure in my love for her... wow, I think I just found the thing I am most thankful for on Thanksgiving, the undying love my wife and I have for each other.

The celebration was simple this year in my father's house. I made a whole turkey smoked on the grill and a pumpkin pie whilst he made green bean casserole and oyster stuffing. A simple celebration celebrating a simple life which is the best kind there is. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and especially to my wife, mahal there is always a destination, but it is the path we take to get there that is most important.

Music Monday

Hi guys welcome to music monday, I pick this song Promise me by Beverly Craven because  this our
wedding song, and I really like this song even before when I first heard this song  way back  in my  highschool days.  So I hope you like this song, anyway this version is from  Leah Salonga a famous singer in the Philippines.

Promise Me lyrics

You light up another cigarette
and I pour the wine
It's four o'clock in the morning
and it's starting to get light
now I'm right where I want to be
losing track of time
but I wish that it was still last night
You look like you're in another world
but I can read your mind
how can you be so far away
lying by my side
when I go away I'll miss you
and I will be thinking of you
every night and day just ...
Promise me you'll wait for me
'cos I'll be saving all my love for you
and I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
and I'll be home, I'll be home soon
When I go away I'll miss you
and I will be thinking of you
every night and day just ...
Promise me you'll wait for me'
cos I'll be saving all my love for you
and I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
and I'll be home, I'll be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me'
cos I'll be saving all my love for you
and I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
and Ill be home soon

Happy Turkey Day 2010

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Happy Turkey Day 2010

7. What did your family do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid? Do you still do it?

As i said , I live in the Philippines so we dont celebrate Thanksgiving.

8. We know you've been asked this probably 15 times this week. But share with us in 2010, what are you most thankful for?

Im thankful for my husband, until know i cant still believe I married the right guy for me, I found my soulmate, He is my soulmate. And Im also thankful for the graces received, and of course good health, and Im thankful for my Family.

9. Okay, the big question: are you going to 'attend' any of the "Black Friday" sales? ...and if you are, are you hard core serious like the 5 am "be there" crowd?

All About Integrity

The Loan
=========

You borrowed money from someone who loaned you money because
they knew you personally. You didn't put up collateral.

The money was loaned to you on your word.

You haven't paid it back.

You don't have the money to pay it back, at least you don't
right now. You could have paid some in the past but you had
other priorities.

I received a call from a young lady whom I had loaned money to
finish a class in school. She paid me half of the money in
small monthly installments as she could. When she was running
late on a payment, she would call and explain.

I remember when I purchased some rental townhome units over 15
years ago. The developer of the units told me not to rent to
three types of people. 1. Friends 2. Artists 3. Preachers.

I was somewhat offended that he would lump men and women of God
into the non-rent paying category. This was long before I became
a preacher. Now I fully understand why he included preachers in
the non-rent paying bunch. Not all of course fit this category
but a surprisingly high percentage of gospel talking folk won't
honor their financial commitments and will literally disappear
with your money, never to be heard from again. Or at least, to
be heard from only when they need more.

Some of you owe money to people who loaned you money in good
faith. You are a good person, but due to reasons, you haven't
paid them back and perhaps because of a little guilt you haven't
mentioned it.

When the lady called yesterday and left this message on my
office voicemail, I thought, "It sure would be nice if most of
the church people were like this."

They can be. You can be.

If you owe someone money and you've not contacted them about it
contact them.

It's not just a matter of money. It's a matter of integrity and
you represent more than just you. Even if you don't have their
money, contact them and let them know that you haven't abandoned
the debt and your word.

Contact them today.

The Best News Ever

Thursday Thunks

Turn the tv on and open the newspaper.... whats the best reported news you've ever heard?
Reagan won the election but I think the person who wrote this poll wasn't alive when that happened
Hey! Guess what? Whats the best personal news someone has told you?
 I'm alive

Goshdarnit I'm tired... When you lay down to sleep at night, whats the best position for you to fall asleep in?
I always sleep on my right side, and have four pillows with me.
What the most excited you've ever been?
Im excited to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows later.

Ever touched a turkey? And yeah, I mean the gobble gobble kind. I'm glad I re-read this or this could have been a stupid question. Have you ever touched a living, breathing, not on your plate turkey?
Yes, have you ever touched a platypus?

Its everywhere, it's driving me crazy! Spend money, people, spend money! Have you boughten anything from the "new & early" Black Friday deals this year?
What boughten? are you retarded? get a spellchecker

So the news is out, the most best news ever in the history of news - Kimber & Berleen are finally going to meet! Kimber is flying to Minnesota. What should she bring with her?
Who and who?

Kimber thinks all Minnesotans eat lutefisk. It's a Scandinavian food and lucky for her, we're German. Maybe it's Norwegian. Heck I don't know - you ever ate the stuff?

Whats in your right pocket right now?
Lint

When you go to the dentist for your cleaning, do you use the toothbrush that they give you or do you use one that you have purchased yourself?
I prefer natural boar bristle.

Nothing can compare to old music, music now adays is boring, i mean not all, but what i hate is the rap music, the lyrics are non sense, an dthey just keep repeating it, and some musician they cant write thier own song, they have to revived old song and then they ruin the song, oh gosh!

Tuesday Tune

Tuesday Tunes: Week 158
A Day Of Music:

If you had one day totally free, just to enjoy music, what would you listen to?

If I have one day free, I would love to listen to Beverly Craven's Promise Me.
This is an old song,One of the reason I love this song because its our Official Wedding song. And I love this song a long time ago, even before I got married. This is famous back in my Hich School days(1994). And also the lyrics is perfectly fit for me, as my husband is far away from me right now,so as the song goes " Promise me, Youll wait for me, cuz Ill be saving all my love for you, and I will be home soon." So check out this song if your feeling sentimental.

How would the music change as the day went on

Maybe it will change my mood to crying mood :D, cuz this song is def.a tearjerker, but u will feel inlove again, so your inspired.

The Pride of the Filipino ( Story of Manny Pacquiao)

ARLINGTON, TX - NOVEMBER 13: A detail of the ...Image by Getty Images via @daylife
The Story of Manny Pacquiao begins in General Santos City, here in the Philippines, He was born on Dec. 17, 1978. We cant begin telling the story of Manny without examining the hard life of Manny Pacquiao. He was born into devastating poverty and was forced to work at a very young age after his father left the family for another woman.

He worked in the streets of General Santos selling breads and other bakery goods. Those same street helped in the devolopment of the tough and relentless individual we see in the ring today. He is also known by his nickname Pacman. He begin fighting in the streets just to earn money to survive. But Manny's mother however was not a fan of boxing, She is a religious, and against of boxing, She doesnt wanna see Manny in the ring punched by someone and get hurt, She wanted Manny to be a priest instead.

Later on, He trained in Manila, and it was not easy, He trained for hours and had to work just as hard to earn a living. He worked as a Construction worker. Despite his sideliness, the young Pacquiao trained like theres no tomorrow: comparing to the work ethic of his fellow prize fighter, each day he would train earliest and stop when all were gone resting.
No wonder and as expected, He raked eleven straight wins before collecting his first professional loss to Rustico Torrecampo on February 9, 1996.
Torrecampo was the only fellow Filipino to have defeated him.

Today, The former construction boy cannot walk even the most remote street in the Philippines even outside of the country, without getting mobbed by the adoring fans. He is too famous to the extent that the people around him also become famous. Like his trainer coach Freddie Roach, I have the oppoturnity of meeting him, along time ago in Cebu, but I did not see Manny himself. maybe he was hiding that time. Anyway, Manny Pacquiao is in the top 20 richest of the world, if im not mistaken, And He is also the newly elected Congressman of his province.
Dedication, perseverance, courage, and extreme self-discipline and of course prayer are his virtues in life. thats why he is so succesfull right now. And now He just won the Eight World Title by unanimous decision, leaving his opponent Antonio Margarito crying.

Visiting our departed ones (Late edition)

Hi guys, Sorry for the late post.  I know some people havetheir parties, trick or treats etc when its Halloween. Well here in the Philippines, its different we are used to visit our departed relatives in the cemetery on Nov. 1 up to the 2nd, overhere November 1 is All Saints day and the Nov. 2 is All Souls day, its actually a religious work i think because we go to hear a mass for the saints and souls, and after that pray in the house, actually its a novena called novena for the souls in purgatory its along prayer, and u have to kneel. And we put some foods in the altar, its like thier favorite food when there still alive (the departed relatives). And after that we spend the night in the Cemetery wit the relatives and friends, its like a picnic but we also offer a prayer again for the souls of our dead relatives and friends, I read in one of the website i like that An indulgence is granted for the souls in Purgatory, If Who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only mentally, for the departed. The indulgence is plenary each day from the Ist to the 8th of November., On other days of the year it is partial. So thats why you feel good for yourself everytime you visit your departeds on Halloween, Cuz you help them eternally, Wow im amazed! Also i read that the souls in Purgatory cnt pray for themselves, so we have to keep praying for them. I hope this help some people... what do you think???
