Sunday Stealing, The 7 Deadly Sins Meme

Today we ripped off a blogger named and blog named Mignight Murdina of the blog Not All That Wander Are Lost. This meme was meant to be done with one question a day for 7 days. We are bad at following rules. So we will do it in a day! It is stated that it was “ganked” from Karaokegal. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Sunday Stealing: The Seven Deadly Sins Meme

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1 - Pride. Seven great things about yourself.

2 - Envy. Seven things you lack and covet.

3 - Wrath. Seven things that piss you off.

4 - Sloth. Seven things you neglect to do.

5 - Greed. Seven worldly material desires.

6 - Gluttony. Seven guilty pleasures.

7 - Lust. Seven love secrets.

A Note From BrSpiritus,

You'll notice that all of the questions are not answered this week and there's a reason for that.  When I first saw this meme I was not happy. I am a private person in real life and that certainly carries over onto the internet.  The questions if anwered, would bare too much of myself to the nameless, faceless crowd of internet users.  However, perhaps there is an opportunity here to spread a little bit of faith.  Think about what religion you were raised with, do you still follow that religion?  Look over the questions above and answer them as to yourself.  This is not a meme, this is not a joke, a haha, or a funny.  There's a reason they're called the 7 DEADLY sins and that's because in Catholic/Christian Dogma they condemn your soul to hell forever.  I really don't care what religion you are and this whole discussion has nothing to do with "religion", it's about "Faith".  I've known many a person who professed to have religion but had no faith.  Faith teaches us humility to nature, kindness and chartiy towards others, civility in dealings and modesty in dress.  Faith is what is lacking today and making this world a hell to live in.  Michael Jackson sang "If you want to make the world a better place, just take a look at yourself and change."  It's time for all of us to start with the "Man in the mirror", and the best time is now.

Saturday 9: Monday, Monday

Our computer in the Philippines has bit the dust so I'm in charge of articles on the blog for awhile.
                      - BrSpiritus

1. How does your day usually go on Monday?

Monday is cleaning day, sweep, vaccuum, mop, clean the cr, busy day.

2. Who was the last band you saw live?

You're going to laugh but it was Smashing Pumpkins back in the 90's

3. When was the last time you purchased something over $50?

It's been too long for me to remember, I'm to frugal

4. Does talking about sex make you uncomfortable?

      Not particularly

5. Do you wish you were someplace else right now?

     Davao City Philippines

6. Tell us about the last wedding that you attended.

My own in 2007. My wife and I were married in Davao and it was quite the "society" affair lol.
In December my sister is getting married and I'll be attending her wedding.

7. What's annoying you right now?

Home ownership, it's such a farce.  Maybe in an partment you have to pay rent but when
stuff breaks you're not the one paying to repair it.

8. What is your best skill/ability? Why?

I'm a good salesman because I can connect with just about anyone.

9. If someone asked a friend of yours, "Hey, what is one thing your friend is exceptional at?", what would they say about you? Why?

I'm reliable and I care, as my wife says, "I'm not plastic."

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Jacksonville, FL Mayor's Race

Well I got my absentee ballot in the mail today for the upcoming mayoral election here in Jacksonville.  It's a tight race but Audrey Moran seems to be breaking away from the pack as the candidate that has the best head on her shoulders.  The city of Jacksonville has the potential to be so much more than it is right now if only we could have the right leader in place.  Too many of the mayors over the past 20 years have been part of the "good ole boys" and not really interested in doing what is best for the people.

Isn't that just the case anywhere you go though?  Politicians are easily influenced by the people backing their campaigns and lose touch with the electorate.  It seems to be happeneing the same way back in the Philippines where Aquino was elected not just because of his name but because he represented a grassroots effort of the people to get away from rule by the Illustrados.  Now though he seems to be paralyzed with uncertaincy over where to go next or what to do and in essence has become part of the problem by taking advice from bad people.

It doesn't matter where you are in the world, the power to govern comes from the people.  The citizens of Egypt and Libya certainly realize this and in their roar for reform I see the power of freedom at work.

A Day At Timicuan Preserve

One of the things I love about the USA is that you're never far from a park.  Be it State owned or Federal these little parcels of wilderness give me a break from the concrete mania of city life.  Today dad and I decided to take a trip to Timicuan Preserve.  The land was gifted to the state by a guy who lived there all through the 30's-60's.  It is pure untouched Florida and gives us a hint of what a wild and overgrown jungle was here when the first Spanish and French explorers came in the 1500's.  Enjoy the pictures, I'm afraid there wasn't much of a "pond" at Spanish Pond because the rain has been lacking here for over a year.  Even with all the rain over the past week, we are still 18" (.45M) below normal.

All in all dad and I hiked about 2 miles (3K) today.

Happy Valentines Day

4 Years ago today I asked my wife to marry me.  I remember it well because at the time she was in Davao and I was visiting friends in Cebu.  She didn't expect that I was going to be there for Valentine's Day but I flew down from Cebu secretly, telling her I was going to take a shower... it's just a short flight from Cebu to Davao.  After checking in to a hotel I went to her home and Suprise!  Nothing has changed since that day except my love for you has grown since then.  I only hope that God has it in His plan that we will be together next year on Valentines Day... Mahal kita, mahal ko.

Thanksgiving Giveaway from Pinay Mommy online

Last year was not so good for me and my husband especially when it comes to financial matters, and also its longest time my husband and I are away from one another. But let me tell you what I'm thankful for last year. I'm thankful that even if my husband is not here with me, I'm still strong and I can still face the day with a smile. I thank God He gives me the strength to face my everyday life with my husband so far away. It is so hard but He guides me and blesses me, so now I still have the courage to live my life everyday over here until I can be with my husband again. August 2010 was the most stressful time of my life. My 3 year old nephew caught dengue fever, we all know its dangerous, so I was really stress, I cried the whole time I see my nephew with all the IV and injections the nurse gave him everyday, but Thank God He heard our prayers, we were out of the hospital in 2 weeks. P 50,000 poorer but its okay, what's important is the health of my nephew. He is 4 years old now and getting ready to go to prep school this June. He is a very active kid, smart and very lovable. We love him so much, he's like our son. I'm so happy he's doing well and very healthy now. I'm thankful that I meet a lot of friends here in my blog, even though we don't see each other in person but they are willing to help. Thanks to all my friends I met here in the blogosphere. I'm thankful that my sari-sari store is still doing business, maybe not as much as I would like, but its still standing for 3 years now. I'm thankful for my family eventhough sometimes we argue, but they're always here everytime I need a helping hand. I'm Thankful for my dear husband for without him, I dunno what's gonna happen to me, especially with my family. He is always ready to help my family, He is my everything. He is always there to help me everytime i have a problem, from financial problem to computer problems heheh. I'm also thankful for my inlaws in Florida, for helping my husband while his waiting for his job. Thank you Lord for all the blessings we recieved and about to recieve, for the good health, for everyday life, everything. I love you Lord!!!
This is my entry to Pinay Mommy online Thanksgiving Giveaway.

Prayer of Thanksgiving In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Dear God in heaven we thank you for everything that you have given us this year. While we did not revel in riches, you gave us enough that we never wanted for sustenance or housing. In this next year please continue to give us your blessings and lead us onto the proper path of our lives. Please hasten the day my husband and I can be together again and please continue to watch over us and protect us with your love while we are apart. Please help those in need and please guide our leaders away from the path of self gratification and onto the path of service to mankind. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Green Bay Wins the Superbowl!

Yesterday was an historic day, Green Bay won the Superbowl taking down Pittsburgh 31-25 in a well fought game.  I give credit to the Steelers for playing well but after the Packers were able to capitalize on 3 Steelers turnovers their game was over.  This marks a first in Superbowl history as Green Bay started off the playoffs as a #6 wildcard seed.  This represents the first time a wildcard team has ever won the superbowl and also ends the Packers dry streak since 1996 when the defeated the Patriots to win Superbowl XXI.  Many sports historians know well of the winning history of Green Bay under the leadership of Vince Lombardi and it is a fitting testament to Green Bay's legacy that the trophy bearing his name is coming home.  Congratulations to everyone on a game well played, I look forward to the start of the 2011 season.

High Fructose Corn Syrup, Death From a Laboratory

Everyone who knows me will tell you I've been on the Anti-Corn Syrup bandwagon for years now.  This product, originally intended to replace sugar, has become a ubiquitous fixture in all the foods we eat.  Indeed it's almost nigh on impossible to get way from it unless you make a concerted effort to read labels.  It has only been coming to light more recently, however, just how dangerous this substance really is.  Let me convince you as well but first.
