Case Completed at the NVC!

The last time I write about my visa petition is when our case arrived in NVC and they assigned us a case number. Things have moved along quickly and right now I'm very happy because finally our case is completed,(Sept.19,2011) which means NVC has finished processing it and thank God they approved our AOS (affidavit of support) and DS 230 (IV packet). Even though we had an RFE (Request for evidence) on the AOS, We are still amazed how fast they process it.

Our RFE is on the Affidavit of Support, the NVC requested proof of relationship between my husband and the co-sponsor, my father in law.  This was easy as my husband just sent in his birth certificate. Right now we are just waiting for the NVC to give us an interview date.  The operator said that October is full so hopefully it would be in November.  Before the interview i have to get my medical exam, which is in Manila in St. Lukes Hospital, of course its not free, the payment is $213.35. So yeah its a lot of money. But its worth it if I will pass and I will pass also the interview so that soon I can be in the loving arms of my husband...

Please guys pray for me, that I will pass my medical exam and also that I will be safe in manila. I already book a ticket for 3 days. Actually I'm not so scared to go to manila because I will have a friend with me. Like me,  she also will take the medical exam.
That's all for now. God bless us all.

Ad: Schloss Co. Baltimore

Schloss Co. Winter 1928-29

I look at this ad and with the virtue (or curse) of hindsight I feel more than a little sad.  This is a cutting from the Baltimore Schloss Co. catalog, winter 1928-29.  At the time this ad was printed times were good, people could afford to dress well and have the finer things in life.  Little did they know that 10 months later their world was about to come crashing down... literally.  The 1929 stock market crash wiped out many Americans who had foolishly put their life savings into buying stocks on credit (margin) at a fraction of their real value.  As long as the price went up everything was good.  Unfortunately though the magic of a global economy, a default on a debt in Europe sparked a panic in the markets that was to usher in the great Depression.

So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Take the time to comment on other player's posts. It's a great way to make new friends! Ad: White Star Line

1929 White Star Line (IMM)

For anyone who has any in depth knowledge of the Titanic disaster, you will know that she was owned by the White Star Line.  The company was formed in 1869 as the Oceanic Steamship Navigation Company under the direction of Bruce Ismay.  The line survived this way until it was absorbed into the International Mercantile Marine Company in 1902.  Around this time the Company started plans on a 3 ship Olympic Class that would be more luxurious than the Cunard Steamers Mauretania and Lusitania.  Everyone knows the Titanic struck an iceberg in April 1912 on her maiden voyage and this was the end of Bruce Ismay as managing director as he was never able to live down the stigma of saving himself while so many others had died that night.

NVC Stage Finally!

It's been awhile since I wrote an update on our IR1 Visa case and I can happily say after 37 days of waiting we finally have our NVC Case Number.  The NVC is the second step in the visa process after the USCIS approved our visa on July 12th, which was just 90 days after original filing.  I feel we have been lucky so far, as there are others who are still waiting for their approval with the USCIS.

Vintage Ivory Soap

Ivory Soap Ad c.1920

Now here's an ad you just have to chuckle over.  Apparently some missionaries in the Philippines around 1920 just couldn't do without their ivory soap.  So much so they sent away to the USA for several cases of said bath product to be delivered to the far reaches of the jungle.  The scene is complete with I would suppose Moro porters bringing the wooden crates to their destination.  Interestingly enough, having lived in the Philippines for 3 years I can't say that PhilPost has gotten any more efficient.
